Group Personal Training Series
Get fit in a small group setting! Sign up with people you know - or individually.

Group Personal Training Series will meet twice a week for 4 weeks - for a total of 8 60-minute sessions. See specific dates and times under each option below. All group PT options will include a mix of cardio, strength, and flexibility training, but the focus of each series is unique.

Back to Basics Group Training: $100 (8 sessions)
This 4-week group training series is a mix of cardio and circuit training on machines designed to teach you how to use the weight room effectively. Ideal for anyone new to fitness, desiring education and experience in the weight room, and who is interested in developing a routine to use on their own. Hard "CORE" Group Training: $100 (8 sessions)
This 4-week group training series involves functional strength, high-intensity cardio, and a focus on core work. It is ideal for anyone who wants to achieve maximum results, concentrate on functional strength training, and emphasize core training (abdominals, lower back, and trunk). This 4-week group training series offers an equal blend of cardio, strength, flexibility, and Yoga. It is ideal for anyone looking for a fun way to get healthy, desiring a balanced approach to fitness, and/or wanting to include Yoga and flexibility as part of their training. Instructor Training Series (ITS)

Fitness ITS: $200 Price includes a COMBO pass (TeXercise and Cycling - $100 value)
Learn how to teach group fitness classes through this comprehensive training series! No previous experience necessary. Learn how to count and cue music, the necessary elements of a fitness class, how to teach multiple formats, and how to use and teach proper form and technique. Please note: you must be able to attend all sessions. This series serves as a foundation to seek a national group fitness certification.  This series is not designed for those wanting to learn to become mind/body instructors.

This informative series provides aspiring yoga instructors with the tools to create and teach safe, fun, dynamic yoga classes. It will cover safety, cueing and execution of proper form in yoga poses, transitions and modifications, class formats, communication skills, and much more. Please note: you must be able to attend all sessions. This series is not a certification and is not designed for experienced yoga instructors. Participants MUST have experience taking 2 or more semesters of yoga classes prior to this series.

Interested in learning to teach Pilates? This series was created to teach individuals the fundamentals, alignment, movement, and basic philosophy behind the Pilates method. Please note: you must be able to attend all sessions. This series is not a certification and is not designed for experienced Pilates instructors. Participants MUST have experience taking 1 or more semesters of Pilates classes prior to this series.

Have a Personal Trainer or Group Exercise Instructor come to YOUR GROUP for a Presentation!

$50/hour. Interested in having one of our Certified Personal Trainers and/or Instructors come to your group to give a presentation on the basics and benefits of exercise - or to put on a class for your group? Please call 512.471.3116 to request and set up your meeting. Please note: Not all requests can be met.  This option is only available as a one-time service - not a recurring class.

Personal Training Instruction (PTI) Course
$180 (includes ACE Personal Training Manual)
This 8-week series prepares you to take the ACE (American Council on Exercise) Personal Training Certification Exam and includes both lecture and practical components. Participants meet twice a week and learn the fundamentals of personal training. Note: Attendance at all sessions is extremely important, as no make-ups will be offered.

The class includes:
Human Anatomy, Exercise Physiology, Biomechanics, Applied Kinesiology, Flexibility, Testing and Evaluation, Muscular Strength and Endurance, Program Design and MORE!
Note: Spots for this series fill very quickly. This series is only offered in the fall semesters.

Basics of Yoga Class:
Ready to dive into yoga but don’t know where to start? This class is geared toward beginners and will focus on the breath, alignment, fundamentals, technique, and benefits of yoga practice. No previous experience necessary.

Belly Dancing Series:
Learn the basics of belly dancing while having fun, strengthening your core muscles, and getting fit!

Hip Hop Dance Series:
Combine body movement and rhythm for an incredible workout while learning the latest hip-hop dance moves and choreography.

Duathlon (Run & Bike) Series:
Run and ride your way to fitness! Whether you are training for an event – or just want to shake up your workouts, this series is for you! Taught by an experienced triathlete, this series will challenge you with a combination of group cycling classes at the RSC and running workouts at Clark Field. Participants should have ability to run 1-mile continuously without stopping. Participants will meet at RSC 2.114 for each session.

Basics of Strength Training Series:
This series is led by a RecSports personal trainer and is designed to educate individuals new to strength training and provide them with the tools and knowledge necessary to weight train safely and efficiently. The first session will include an overview of cardiovascular and strength training equipment. Session two will review free weights, form, and safety. In the last session, a basic program design will be reviewed and distributed to all participants. Registration required. The group will meet outside of the main RSC weight room at 1pm sharp to meet the trainer each session.

Fit-to-Go: Nutrition & Exercise Info Table
A certified RecSports personal trainer and nutrition educator from University Health Services team up to provide education, handouts, and other resources regarding your fitness and nutrition questions and needs! Obtain beneficial and reliable fitness and nutrition advice – along with free body composition screening! REGISTRATION IS NOT REQUIRED... Just drop by table at your convenience.
