delta tau delta endowed scholarship

The Delts were a dominant intramural force in the 60s, winning numerous championships and appearing nearly 140 times on the Intramural Wall of Fame in both team and individual sports. To honor the fraternity’s accomplishments, we are partnering with UT Austin’s Division of Recreational Sports to establish a permanent endowment to honor the great Delts of that era. With recognition to be forever displayed at Gregory Gym, this endowment will provide scholarships to outstanding student employees.
I invite you to join me in this exciting endeavor to honor the intramural legacy of the Delts and give back to a program that shaped not only our experience at the University, but also our lives. It is my desire to continuously increase the endowment principal over time in order to recognize additional student leaders. In order to achieve this goal, I am asking for the support of as many Delts as possible.
Sincerely,

Class of 1965, '68
Scholarship Recipients
Funds distributed from the endowment will enable the division to provide scholarships annually. Occurring each spring semester, the selection process is open to full-time undergraduate students who have reached junior or senior status, with a 2.5 minimum GPA and who have been employed by Recreational Sports during one or more academic years. RecSports seeks Delt Scholarship candidates who:
• Demonstrate commitment to Delt values – integrity, accountability, truth and courage.
• Provide beneficial, outstanding leadership to those around them
• Go above and beyond their responsibilities on a regular basis
• Represent the Division of Recreational Sports in a positive and favorable manner at all times

The recipient of the Delta Tau Delta Endowed Scholarship is Maryam Najam, a senior from Houston who is a Plan II Honors, Business Honors and Corporate Finance major. She has worked for the Fitness/Wellness Program as a group fitness instructor and program assistant. Besides being very active with RecSports, Maryam has also studied abroad in Costa Rica and volunteered in Panama last summer.
