What sparked your interest about working for RecSports?
I was admitted into UT Austin for the summer but I was already living in Austin taking ESL classes to polish my English for college, and I saw an ad in the Daily Texan about the RecSports Job Fair. I had been into Gregory a couple of times and thought working there would be convenient, it would help me get more fluent in English and integrate better into the UT culture.

Sure enough I went to the Job Fair, got a second round interview, and during that second round interview my biggest concern was if I would have to lie and have a city of Texas in my name tag since I thought they only hired people from Texas. The Building Coordinators that were conducting the interview laughed and assured me that I would not be the only international student working at Gregory Gym. That summer I had a great time and made great friendships, and I am still doing that right now.

Describe how working at RecSports helped influence your college career?
Thanks to RecSports I have been able to be a better leader not only in my college career but in my engineering job. I am a more responsible and organized person thanks to RecSports, and that has translated to being successful in my classes and engineering jobs. RecSports has taught me values that I will take with me forever in my professional life.

What memories will you remember most fondly as you look back at your time as a RecSports employee?
The friendships I have made and the people I have met will be what I will take for the rest of my life from RecSports. RecSports has some of the best facilities I have ever seen in my life, but it is the people who compose RecSports that make the difference. From the professional staff to the student workers, everyone is willing to help out and lend you a hand in many things. I hope I keep these friendships for the rest of my life.

What does winning a RecSports Student Employee Scholarship mean to you? What will you do with the winnings?
Winning a RecSports Student Employee Scholarship is very important for me. I have tried my best to represent the Division in the best manner possible both in the facilities and events, being a leader to my fellow workers, spreading out our President's message regarding recreational sports and what we represent; so I feel this is recognition to my dedication to RecSports. It also means that people like our donors still care about RecSports after they graduate, and shows the impact RecSports has had in their lives. I hope to come back to RecSports one day and also show my appreciation by donating to a RecSports Employee Scholarship. I will pay a bit of my school debt with part of the money, repair my Jeep and buy textbooks for the semester.

What are plans following graduation?
I will be graduating in May with a degree in Biomedical engineering and I hope I will be working with a medical instrumentation company here in Austin. I hope I can stay here in Austin for a while since I love the city. I would like to come back to UT in the future for a master in Technology Commercialization.
