In May 2009, Dallas businessman Bennett Glazer generously pledged a gift of $100,000 to the Recreational Sports Excellence Fund. As a former RecSports participant, Bennett understands and values the importance of learning life lessons outside the classroom and how those lessons add tremendous value to the overall student experience.

Bennett J. Glazer is Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Glazer’s Distributors, one of the country’s largest distributors of wine, spirits, and malt beverages. Bennett’s role is focusing on vendor relationships, new business development and company strategy. Glazer’s is an 11-state distributor in the Midwest and Southwest U.S., with over 5,200 employees, 900 beverage suppliers, and over 30,000 customers. With 2008 revenue of $3 billion, Glazer’s has over 40 branch operations in its 11 states. The firm is an industry leader in supply chain management, category management, and educating its employees and customers on how to grow the beverage category.

Bennett is part of the 3rd generation of his family to lead the Glazer’s company. Bennett is the son of Nolan and Frances Glazer, and he became the 4th family member to assume the CEO role in 1996.
Bennett's tenure to date as Glazer's Chairman and CEO has seen the company grow from $700 million to $3 billion in revenues, along with the expansion into 12 U.S. states. Glazer's reputation in the industry for brand building and customer service is unparalleled among U.S. distributors, and Glazer's is seen as an industry leader by its suppliers and customers.

Bennett and his wife, Marion, have two children. Their son, Sam, is a sophomore at UT Austin and is a member of the ZBT fraternity. Their daughter, Paige, is a high school senior in Dallas.

Education, Affiliations, Honors and Awards

• 1968 graduate of the University of Texas at Austin, where he earned a BA in Business Administration. He was a member of the Texas Cowboys and ZBT fraternity while at UT and appears twice on the Intramural Wall of Fame at Gregory Gym
• Attended a Harvard Business School program for Families in Business
• Has been a long time member of the Board of Directors of WSWA (Wine and Spirits Wholesalers of America)
• In 2006, Bennett was recognized by the WSWA with its Lifetime Leadership Award
• Recipient of the George Washington Spirits Society Award in 2007
• Served on the Advisory Board of J. P. Morgan Chase Bank
• Current member of the UT Recreational Sports Leadership Team
