Carolina is a senior majoring in Business Administration and came to Austin from Monterrey, Mexico. She curently works as a Building Coordinator and Emissary.
As soon as Carolina arrived in Austin and began attending school, she was determined to find a job. She didn’t really know where to start looking but she knew was that she needed to work somewhere where she would be able to meet new and interesting people. Although she qualifies for a scholarship that pays her non-resident portion of tuition, it is necessary for Carolina to work to pay her living expenses.
Carolina’s favorite aspect of working for RecSports is the interaction with people.
She says, “RecSports is so diverse and therefore attracts people with different backgrounds and varying personalities. I enjoy interacting with all of our patrons, whether its fellow students, faculty and staff members, community members, or visitors. In addition, the people I work with are amazing. From the staff that keep the facilities running, my coworkers, staff from other facilities and RecSports programs, to the full-time professionals; everyone has their own story to share and in one way or another has enriched my experience in college. In RecSports, I found a home. ”
In September of 2008, thanks to the generosity of RecSports donors, Carolina was a recipient of the Thomas W. Dison Endowed Scholarship.
