Intramurals Frequently ASked Questions (FAQ)

How do I play on a team or sign up for an event?

For team sports - either put together a group of friends, fraternity brothers/ sorority sisters, club members, etc. and yourself, and sign up as a team. Individual/dual sports - sign up yourself and/or your partner. Dual sport participants in need of a partner will be accommodated, if at all possible. All sign-ups are taken either online or in Gregory Gym.

How much does it cost?

The fee for major team sports is $100 per team while the fee for weekend team tournaments ranges in price. Most individual/dual tournaments and special events such as golf, billiards, and table tennis range in price from $5 to $50. Where do we play?

Team sports play Sunday through Thursday evenings at either Whitaker Fields, Gregory Gym or the Recreational Sports Center.

How do I become an official?

Officials are needed in flag football, soccer, volleyball, basketball and softball, with pay starting at $8 per hour. Officials can earn up to $20 a game for area youth sports events. Come by Gregory Gym 2.200 to apply or attend a referee meeting in the sport of your choice. Call 471-3116 for more information.

What do we get if we win?

All team, individual, dual, special event and weekend tournament 1st place champions receive IM Champion T-shirts. Also, all 1st place finishers and runners-up in team sports will have their photos taken for the Wall of Honor boards.

Can I play on more than one team?

Specific eligibility rules are outlined under the Policies and Procedures section. In general, an individual may play for one team per division as long as he or she meets all the eligibility requirements. Example: A man can play for his fraternity, an orange team and on one coed team.

Can I play intramurals if I won a varsity letter in college?

Varsity letter winners are not eligible for the sport in which he or she lettered. However, letter winners are eligible for the Graduate Division if they are in law school or graduate school. NOTE: Individual cases may be appealed to the IM Council prior to participation.
