Getting Started
What sports and events do you offer?
Do you have to be a UT student to play?
  • Currently enrolled UT students and UT faculty/staff with a current RecSports membership are eligible to participate.
  • Some events are designated for students only.
  • Policies restrict current and former NCAA athletes, UT Sport Club members, and professional athletes from participating in some events. Learn more here.
How do you register an intramural team?
  • Sign your team up on the RecSports Online Store.
  • Registration periods are approximately two weeks long and close roughly five days before play starts for that sport. We recommend you sign up early because spots are limited, and registration is first come, first served.
How much does registration cost?
  • The team captain, or the person who registers the team, will pay the full fee listed online. The fees are listed on the Intramural Sports schedule.
  • The average cost per participant is $10.00-$12.00 per sport.
How does my organization register using an account number for payment?
  • The IDT (interdepartmental transfer) process allows sponsored student organizations to utilize university funds to register for Intramural Sports.
  • The sponsoring department must authorize the expenditure and provide the account number to the student captain or sports chairperson before submitting the request.
  • The request may be submitted for an entire semester in advance, and new requests may be submitted throughout the semester if an organization wishes to register additional teams.
  • Request an IDT Payment
  • Questions about the process? Contact intramurals@utrecsports.org
Do I need to have a full team before signing up?
  • For team sports and doubles events, only the team captain needs to register during the entry period. Team captains will submit a team name, choose the day and time to play, and pay the registration fee.
  • If your team needs more players, we encourage you to check our Free Agents list. Free Agents are interested individuals searching for a team. You can reach out directly to anyone on the list!
What if I don’t have a team?
  • We encourage you to check out the Free Agent program! Many teams seeking players will reach out to interested players on this list. Groups of free agents can, and often do, form their own team!

  • Participants must follow the UT Honor Code and display great sportsmanship during all Intramural contests. Learn more about sportsmanship here.
What if my team captain cannot attend one of the scheduled games?
