Basketball Playoff Information

Playoff Captain's Meeting
Friday, March 5th - GRE Classroom (GRE 1.104)

Coed A, B & C: Noon - 12:30pm
Orange A, B & C: 12:30 - 1pm
White A, B & C: 1 - 1:30pm
Greek Council, 6 Ft. & Under and Women's: 1:30 - 2pm
Graduate & Grad.Coed: 2 - 2:30pm

*The 2010 Basketball rules and information packet is available here. Please ensure that everyone on your team knows the rules!

* Teams are strongly encouraged to provide their own jerseys or t-shirts for each game. The shirts should be of the same color and must have a number on at least one side (no duplicate numbers). Check-out jerseys are available on each court. However, these same jerseys will be in use on each court for the entire night of games.

* Online roster submission system for all IM Team Sports- This is available online after you have registered and paid for your team. Information and detailed instructions can be found at our Roster Information webpage.
                          
*Divisions of play offered are Orange, White, 6 Foot and Under, Greek Council Fraternity, Graduate, Coed, Graduate Coed and Women's. A regulation Coed A, B or C team typically consists of 2 males and 3 females.
Graduate Coed teams typically consists of 3 males and 2 females. All members of a 6 Foot and Under team must be no taller than 6 feet 0 inches with barefeet. Intramural staff may request a player be measured at anytime during the season.

*Regular season begins on Sunday, January 31st

*All basketball games are played at Gregory Gym (GRE)

When does my team play?
*Once a week for 5 weeks on the day and time for which you registered.

*Each team will have one "bye" week off - typically the week corresponding with the numbered slot in which you registered. (Bye week subject to change--Team captains must review their final schedule after the registration period ends).


New for 2010 --Playoff qualifiers in all divisions shall be determined as follows:

"A" Skill Level

Top 3 qualifiers in each league (and any team with at least three wins)

"B" Skill Level

Top 2 qualifiers in each league (and any team with at least three wins)

"C" Skill Level

One qualifier per league


*All other divisions without a skill level designation(ie- Greek Council) will qualify two teams per league and any team with at least three wins.

TEAM CAPTAINS RESPONSIBILITIES
*Team captains are responsible for verifying that the full names and valid EIDs of all participants appear on the team roster and scorecards. Any name appearing on the scorecard may be counted as a participant in that contest. Team captains are responsible for signing each scorecard to confirm its accuracy.

*Team captains are responsible for the sportsmanship policy located in the rules packet and should be aware that poor sportsmanship may jeopardize future participation for their team.

*Team captains are responsible for maintaining contact with the Recreational Sports Office through the RecSports website with regard to registrations, schedules, results, playoffs, and reschedules. Captains are required to provide a valid email address as part of the registration process and agree to monitor that address on a regular basis during the competition season for which they registered. The Intramural Staff may communicate important information to all teams via email. Schedule information will not be provided over the phone.

NCCS_RegionalTournament

Want to compete against teams from all across Texas? Check out the information (click the logo above) on attending the NCCS Texas Regional Basketball Tournament scheduled for February 26-28, 2010 at UT San Antonio. You do not have to be an intramural champion to compete!! Come by the office if you have questions. Regional champion teams will receive a Travel Stipend to the NCCS National Basketball Championships at Vanderbilt University on April 9-11, 2010.
