Membership Options for Departments who have guests
and visitors on campus
Who's Eligible
RecSports facilities are available for the use of guests and visitors to campus, including:
• Part-time summer employees
• Candidates interviewing for a job
• Guest speakers
• Prospective students/faculty/staff and families
• Conference attendees
• Summer camp participants/symposia participants
• Interns
All RecSports participants - including students, faculty and staff - pay a usage fee to enjoy recreational facility privileges. Consistent with this practice, guests and visitors to campus are subject to appropriate fees, although arrangements can be made for longer term use. Children, age 15 and under, must adhere to children's policies.
Fees
$5 a day for children aged 15 and under
$10 a day for individuals 16 and older
All requests for facility usage must be submitted in writing at least two weeks in advance of the event.The request must include the dates of the campus visit, the name of the program/department and a list of attendees with date of birth. The IDT account number, if applicable, as well as the signature of the chairperson, director or dean of the sponsoring department must be included. Requests can be submitted at memberhsips@utrecsports.org or via campus mail (Membership Services Office, D7500), the Membership Services Office in Gregory Gym 2.200.
Payment Options
Sponsoring departments have the following options when requesting facility usage:
-Submit a roster of all attendees and have the individuals pay for membership at the established rate. When using this option, the organizers are encouraged to let participants know, in advance, of the fees associated with membership. RecSports will provide supporting documentation for usage, if requested.
-Pay
for all participants via an IDT prior to the conference/seminar at the established rate. When using this option, arrangments will need to be made regarding the type of card used for access. With prior arrangements, these passes are transferable, but not refundable.
-Submit a list of attendees and pay for via IDT for usage AFTER the event. In this case, the group will only pay for the passes that are used by those who are eligible. RecSports will provide supporting documentation for all passes sold.
No matter which payment method is chosen, these memberships are only available in the Memberships Service Office in Gregory Gym 2.200, weekdays from 8:00am -5:00pm.
Notification of Approval
The sponsoring department will be notified via e-mail or phone regarding the approval of the request. The notification will include the cost associated with acces to the facilities. The Membership Services Office staff will provide facility hours and maps to each participant when they register.
Age Restrictions
RecSports defines a child as an individual who is age 15 or younger.
- Children age 14 and up may use the weight and conditioning equipment in all areas except the faculty/staff weight room.
- Children, age 10 and older, may use the handball, racquetball or squash courts.
- Children are not eligible to use the Climbing Wall.
- Children over the age of 4 are not permitted in the locker room of the opposite sex.
Ratio Requirement for Pool Usage
- Non-swimmers must be within arm's reach of supervising swimmer at all times.
- One adult over the age of 18 must be present to supervise up to 10 children, age 15 and younger. Groups that plan to bring 30 or more children at one time will be required to apply for a facility reservation; rental fees will apply and individual fees are waived.
Additional Pool Policies
- Children may not use the spa.
- Child members may use the facility during specified children's hours.
- Swim diapers or plastic pants are required for children who are not toilet trained.
- Diaper changing is restricted to the changing stations in the restrooms.
