Recreational Sports facilities, services and programs are available to all UT students during the semester for which they are registered. This includes the summer sessions. Typically, facility access is available on the first day of classes and continues through the day before classes begin the following semester.
Students qualify for access by paying tuition each semester. To verify eligibility, all students are required to display their valid UT ID card upon request or entry to a recreational facility. Additional fees are charged to participate in programs such as intramurals, group exercise classes, outdoor trips and workshops and sport clubs.
*Enrollment in Extension courses does NOT make individuals eligible to access Recreational Sports facilities (there are no student fees paid). During the summer, if individuals do not qualify for an interim student pass as described below, then the individual, who is enrolled in extension classes, may join at the associate rate. Here are the fees for that category.

Students will have access to RecSports facilities for the dates that correspond to the session enrolled, by presenting a valid UT-Austin student ID card, unless they withdraw.
Students who are not enrolled for summer classes and were enrolled for spring and would like to use the facilities, are eligible to purchase the interim student pass for the summer. The fee for access from June 6- August 22 is $102. The passes are available for purchase on-line here and sales begin May 1.
Students who are ONLY enrolled for the first or second session classes may purchase a pass to cover access during the session in which the student is not enrolled.
Students who were not enrolled in the spring, but are returning for the fall need to go to the ID Center in the FAC to get their UT ID card activated. Once that is complete, interim student passes are available for purchase on-line here and sales begin for newly admitted fall 2013 students on June 1.
Fall 2013 students
Not enrolled for summer but back early to start fall classes?
Fall 2013 access for fall students begins Friday, August 23. If you did not take summer classes but are in Austin before August 23 and want to access the facilities, you will need to purchase a welcome back pass. This membership will "bridge" you until August 23 when your fall access begins. A valid UT ID is required to purchase an interim student pass.
The university's official dates of enrollment for students for the fall are Wednesday, August 28 - Sunday, January 13, 2014. Students will have access to RecSports facilities for these dates, by presenting a valid UT-Austin student ID card, unless they withdraw from fall classes. Interim student passes are available for purchase on-line here.
Students - NOT enrolled for the Fall or Spring semester
Students not enrolled for the Fall or Spring semester have a couple of options regarding facility access:
- A limited number of community memberships are available for purchase.
OR
- A currently enrolled student, who is not sponsoring another individual, may sponsor a non-student into the facilities at the established rate.
Membership fees may be found on-line here.
