Position Description
Office Assistant 

Start date: Summer/Fall 2019

 

  • Pay rate: $8.25/hour
  • Flexible scheduling

Greet and assist customers with enthusiasm and a positive attitude in an office setting. Practice clear, professional verbal communication in person and by phone with customers. 

 

Position Requirements: Attention to detail; regular and punctual attendance. Maintain ongoing knowledge of all program areas (Memberships, Intramural Sports, Sport Clubs, Fitness/Wellness, Outdoor Recreation, Instructional Program). Ability to learn and follow detailed instructions on office processes and business practices with limited supervision

Graphic Designer

Recreational Sports is looking for a highly creative and talented student graphic designer. Designers should be creative, personable, and organized. You should be superb at time management and capable of juggling multiple projects simultaneously. You aspire to concept and execute industry-leading design work. You take ownership of your projects and are driven by a need to leave things better than you found them.

 

  • Pay rate: $9.25/hour

Job Responsibilities

  • Use problem-solving skills to develop and execute visual designs.
  • Produce marketing materials that may include, but are not limited to: posters, brochures, flyers, digital displays, banners, special event signage, experiential marketing collateral and social media.
  • Create and present design recommendations to internal clients and leadership.
  • Collaborate with the communications team to ensure creative is delivered on time, accurately, and within the brand language.
  • Research current trends and creative in the retail marketing landscape and share findings.
  • Adhere to The University of Texas at Austin and Recreational Sports branding and style guides.

Position Requirements

  • Must be a team player, work well with others, and be flexible in design strategies.
  • Must be a self-starter, self-motivated and engaging.
  • Strong verbal communication skills with an ability to initiate and establish rapport with a wide range of members of the UT community.
  • Ability to work with minimum supervision, work with tight timelines and meet deadlines in a timely manner, and manage multiple projects at once.
  • Must present a design portfolio and have basic understanding of graphic design concepts and skills.
  • Must be familiar with Mac platform and Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator).
  • Must be familiar with print and digital formats (native files, JPG, TIFF, PNG, EPS, PDF, etc.).
  • Understanding of core design elements such as typography, layout, and color.
  • Bonus if you have experience with any of the following: animation, videography, photography or web design.

Recreational Sports is looking for highly creative and talented student photographers. Photographers should be creative, enthusiastic, and outgoing individuals that can work independently and with teammates. 

 

  • Pay rate: $9.25/hour
  • Project-based scheduling

Job Responsibilities

  • Creation, editing, and delivery of high quality photographs at RecSports special events, facilities, programs, and activities for use on print marketing materials, website, digital signage, social media, and various other communication outlets.
  • Lead all technical setup for shoots, including lighting, angle, placement and positioning of individuals on camera where appropriate. 
  • Work collaboratively with teammates and Communications area staff for creative needs. 
  • Accurately capture photos that represent our department. 
  • Carefully curate photos from assignments to share on print and digital channels 
  • Assist with organizing seasonal photo shoots
  • Assist with maintaining and organizing online photo galleries (SmugMug)
  • Coordinate and schedule photography with stakeholders/talent
  • Work shifts vary based on events and projects

Position Requirements

  • Strong photography skills with an ability to produce creative still shots
  • Ability to edit and submit photos as early as same-day with a maximum turnaround time of 48 hours
  • Capable of quick, solution-orientated thinking and detailed planning
  • Must be flexible, adapt easily to change, be a self-starter, self-motivated and engaging
  • Ability to learn quickly and accomplish multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong verbal communication skills with an ability to initiate and establish rapport with a wide range of members of the UT community
  • Ability to work efficiently with others in a team-oriented environment
  • Provide excellence customer service
  • Ability to work with minimum supervision, work with tight timelines and meet deadlines in a timely manner, and manage multiple projects at once
  • Understanding of photo composition and editing
  • Ability to try different methods of photography and receive constructive feedback

Preferred Qualifications: Own photography equipment; experience with sports photography; ability to capture photography in low lighting conditions (i.e. outdoor sporting events at night time).

Recreational Sports is looking for highly creative and talented students with video production experience. Videographers should be creative, enthusiastic, and outgoing that can work independently and with teammates on projects. 

 

  • Creation, editing, and delivery of high quality video content at RecSports special events, facilities, programs, and activities for use on website, digital signage, social media, and other various communication outlets. 
  • Lead all technical setup for shoots, including lighting, angle, placement and positioning of individuals on camera where appropriate.

  • Ability to edit and submit short videos as early as same-day with a maximum turnaround time of 48 hours.
  • Understand story boarding, shot composition, sound recording and editing.
  • Capable of quick, solution-orientated thinking and detailed planning.
  • Must be flexible, adapt easily to change, be a self-starter, self-motivated and engaging.
  • Ability to learn quickly and accomplish multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong verbal communication skills with an ability to initiate and establish rapport with a wide range of members of the UT community.
