For many University of Texas at Austin alumni, the mention of UT RecSports brings back fond memories of playing and competing at the Whitaker Fields and Tennis Complex. Today, nearly 260,000 participation hours take place at the complex each year, making it one of the most essential recreation facilities for UT students, and the only outdoor recreation space of its kind for the campus community.
The complex also provides a place for students to learn about winning, losing, working together and being leaders as they take on teams and play their way to championships. Despite its popularity, the last renovation of this space was more than 30 years ago and the complex has been in need of a major renovation.
The Renovation of the Whitaker Fields Complex
The fields will continue to serve as the home for outdoor intramural sports, as well as the location for the following ten Sport Clubs to hold activities ranging from practices and matches, to tournaments, clinics, and other special events:
Upon re-opening this facility will be renamed Charles Alan Wright Fields at the Berry M. Whitaker Sports Complex.
The Fundraising Continues!
