RecSports is currently hiring for the part-time positions listed below. 

Position Description and Application Process

Intramural Official

 

 

RecSports hires hundreds of student officials for team sport leagues each semester. You can play in a league and work games too!

  • Pay rates range from $8.25-$10.00/hour
  • Free uniforms
  • Opportunities for promotion 
  • Work 5-20 hours per week. Shifts are 3-5 hours long. 
  • Work one or several sports

Application Process

  1. Submit an Intramural Sports Officials Application
  2. Attend one rules meeting, training clinic, and one practice game for the sport(s) you're interested in officiating. Click here to view the training schedules for each sport.
Activity Supervisor

Greets all visitors. Enforces regulations regarding identification. Handles equipment checkout. Supervises special events. Sets up and takes down equipment. Assigns courts from online reservation system and walk-ins. Monitors all areas of the facilities for usage, participant behavior and security. Enforces regulations concerning facility use. Provides information to patrons. Performs custodial duties and maintenance. Responds to emergencies. Assists the Building Coordinator and professional staff.

 

Adult & Pediatric CPR/AED and First Aid certification required upon employment.

Aquatic Instructor

Teaches non-credit classes for the Instructional Program in the area or aquatics. Experience teaching or coaching adults and/or children at basic, beginner or intermediate levels is required. WSI certification is preferred. Internal Child Protection Training and annual background check is required.

Photographer

Create, edit, and deliver high quality photographs at RecSports special events, facilities, programs, and activities for use on print marketing materials, website, digital signage, social media, and various other communication outlets. Lead all technical setup for shoots, including lighting, angle, placement and positioning of individuals on camera where appropriate. Carefully curate photos from assignments to share on print and digital channels. Assist with organizing seasonal photoshoots. Assist with maintaining and organizing online photo galleries (SmugMug). Coordinate and schedule photography with stakeholders/talent. Shifts vary based on events and projects.

 

Requirements: Strong photography skills with an ability to produce creative still shots. Ability to edit and submit photos as early as same-day with a maximum turnaround time of 48 hours. Natural light photography experience preferred (versus flash). Capable of quick, solution-orientated thinking and detailed planning. Must be flexible, adapt easily to change, be a self-starter, self-motivated and engaging. Ability to learn quickly and accomplish multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment. Strong verbal communication skills with an ability to initiate and establish rapport with a wide range of members of the UT community. Ability to work efficiently with others in a team-oriented environment
Provide excellence customer service. Ability to work with minimum supervision, work with tight timelines and meet deadlines in a timely manner, and manage multiple projects at once. Understanding of photo composition and editing. Must be flexible, adapt easily to change, be a self-starter, self-motivated and engaging. Ability to learn quickly and accomplish multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment. Strong verbal communication skills with an ability to initiate and establish rapport with a wide range of members of the UT community.  Ability to work with minimum supervision, work with tight timelines and meet deadlines in a timely manner, and manage multiple projects at once. Attention to detail. Ability to receive constructive feedback

Videographer

Creation, editing, and delivery of high quality video content at RecSports special events, facilities, programs, and activities for use on website, digital signage, social media, and other various communication outlets. Lead all technical setup for shoots, including lighting, angle, placement and positioning of individuals on camera where appropriate. Work collaboratively with teammates and Communications area staff for creative needs. Accurately capture videos that represent our department. Carefully curate footage from assignments to share on digital channels.

 

Requirements: Strong content capture and editing skills with an ability to produce upbeat, compelling short videos. Ability to edit and submit short videos as early as same-day with a maximum turnaround time of 48 hours. Understand storyboarding, shot composition, sound recording and editing. Capable of quick, solution-orientated thinking and detailed planning. Must be flexible, adapt easily to change, be a self-starter, self-motivated and engaging. Ability to learn quickly and accomplish multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment. Strong verbal communication skills with an ability to initiate and establish rapport with a wide range of members of the UT community.  Ability to work with minimum supervision, work with tight timelines and meet deadlines in a timely manner, and manage multiple projects at once. Attention to detail. Ability to receive constructive feedback
