Backpacking at Big Bend National Park
Big Bend National Park is a hiker’s paradise containing the largest expanse of roadless public lands in Texas. More than 150 miles of mountain and desert trails offer opportunities for outstanding backcountry experiences. Nestled high in the Chisos Mountains, the South Rim Trail stands alone as the premier backpacking opportunity in Big Bend. With stunning vistas, abundant wildlife, breathtaking contrasts of Alpine forest and Chihuahuan desert, this trip is a true Texas classic!
Our trip will backpack through this rugged and remote wilderness including a summit hike to Emory Peak, the tallest point in the park. Please note, January can bring very mild, enjoyable temperatures during the day but very cold nights.
Intermediate, some backpacking experience required / Strenuous level of activity.
