Meet Our Swim Instructors

Anna C. (She/Her)

Before joining RecSports as a swim instructor, she coached summer league teams for two seasons and taught swim lessons at a community swim school. Anna C. swam competitively herself for her high school's varsity team. She speaks Spanish and enjoys swimming in the Outdoor Lap Pool at Gregory Gym. Anna C.'s advice for those taking lessons for the first time is to think about what goals you want to set for yourself before starting.

Anna H.'s favorite places to swim are all in California: Coronado, La Jolla, and San Diego. She encourages first-time swimmers to stretch and eat a couple of hours before their lesson!

Brooklyn-Jade (She/Her)

Brooklyn-Jade is a Business Marketing student from Houston, Texas. She has been a swim instructor and lifeguard at RecSports since fall 2021. Her competitive swimming career began when she competed on her local YMCA team at nine years old, and it culminated in her becoming a three-year captain of her high school swim team, leading her team to regionals her sophomore year. Brooklyn-Jade has taught swimmers of all ages and loves helping them reach their goals, whether that is to overcome a fear of water or to prepare for a triathlon.

Brooklyn-Jade's advice for first-time swimmers is to trust the RecSports instructors and lifeguards to keep you safe while ensuring that you develop all the skills you need to succeed. She firmly believes it is never too late to learn how to swim!

Felicity (She/Her)

Felicity is a Psychology student from Leander, Texas. She has taught swimming for four years and joined RecSports in fall 2023. Felicity has been a competitive swimmer for the last 11 years, and she coaches a competitive team every summer. During her senior year of high school, Felicity served as team captain and qualified for the state swim meet in four events. As much as she loves being at the pool teaching and coaching, she also loves sitting at home while knitting and watching Netflix.

Felicity understands that swimming can make people anxious, so she recommends that first-time swimmers try to relax, trust their instructor, and focus on having fun while getting some sunshine!

Lily (She/Her)

Lily is a Mechanical Engineering student at UT. She has been a swim instructor at RecSports since fall 2023 and taught swim at the Bryan Aquatic Center for two years prior. Lily also swam and dove competitively in high school.

When she isn't at the pool, Madison loves bouldering and drawing in her spare time.

Madison advice for someone taking lessons for the first time is that if they don't understand something, they should ask about it. There are no dumb questions!

Yesmin  (She/Her)

Yesmin is a Nutrition student from Beaverton, Oregon. She has been teaching swimming for four years and has worked with swimmers of all ages. Her desire to teach swimming comes from her experiences of nearly drowning several times as a child, which happened often enough that she got to know the lifeguards at her local pool very well. Outside of the pool, Yesmin is a member of Texas Taekwondo.

Yesmin believes that communication is key, especially for first-time learners. She encourages swimmers to talk to their instructors and let them know where their strengths and weaknesses lie, especially if there are areas in which they lack confidence.
