What is a Health Coach?

 A Health Coach is a behavior change expert who empowers and guides individuals in achieving their optimal health and well-being goals. Health Coaches provide personalized support to their clients, helping them identify and achieve their goals through a sustainable approach. A Health Coach takes a holistic approach considering all dimensions of wellness and all aspects of an individual’s life. Health Coaches provide accountability, collaboration, and motivation to help clients cultivate their desired health and wellness vision.

What is the role of a Health Coach? 

Health Coaches partner with participants seeking self-directed, lasting changes, aligned with their values, which promote health and wellness and, thereby, enhance well-being. In the course of their work, health coaches display unconditional positive regard for their clients and a belief in their capacity for change, honoring that each participant is an expert on their own life while ensuring that all interactions are respectful and non-judgemental.

How does a Health Coach differ from a therapist?

Health coaches and therapists have different scopes of practice and objectives when supporting clients. Health Coaches are rooted in discovery,  guiding clients through their health and wellness goals. They emphasize behavior change, lifestyle modification, and education to promote healthy habits and sustainable choices. Therapists address mental, emotional, and psychological issues. Therapists are trained to diagnose and treat various mental health conditions and emotional challenges.

What makes a Health Coach unique?

A health coach’s job is to offer participants tools that will help them establish the skills and confidence to participate fully in their health and well-being. Additionally, the coach will guide in the practice of identifying attainable and measurable self-identified goals, while supporting and holding the participant accountable in reaching those goals. 

What aspects of my life can I address with my Health Coach?

Health is both bio-individual and multi-dimensional. A health coach addresses all 8 key dimensions that contribute to overall health and wellness. These 8 key dimensions include the emotional, physical, occupational, intellectual, financial, social, environmental, and spiritual.

How long are Health Coaching sessions?

Each Health Coaching session is 50 minutes long.. Sessions are in-person but can be conducted virtually if requested by the participant.

How many sessions does a participant need? 

The number of coaching sessions needed will vary from person to person based on individual wants and needs. Once a participant has completed the intake paperwork and purchased their desired session package, they will have a one-hour initial consultation meeting with their assigned health coach. As they begin to work toward identified and established goals, they, with the help of their coach, will begin to determine the number of sessions that will work best for them. The number of sessions is completely determined by what the participant's needs and desires.
