Strength Training for Runners

Strength Training for Runners is a six-week series designed to help participants improve running mechanics, enhance performance, prevent injuries, and improve overall endurance.

Under the guidance of certified personal trainers, participants will learn the proper form and technique for running form and strength exercises that complement running. Participants will build a strong weight training foundation and develop strength, power, and endurance to improve their overall running performance.

  • Dates: Feb. 20-April 4, 2024 (6 weeks, not including Spring Break)
  • Class Days: Tuesdays & Thursdays
  • Time: 4-5:30pm 
  • Registration Closes: Feb. 16
  • Location: Recreational Sports Center (RSC)
Cost*
  • UT student: $100
  • RecSports member: $120

*Please note: you must be a currently enrolled UT student or have a RecSports membership to participate in Strength Training for Runners.


Series Outline
  • Weeks 1 and 2: Goal: Build a strong weight training foundation and emphasize form and technique. 
  • Weeks 3 and 4: Goal: Increase weight intensity and progress movement patterns.
  • Weeks 5 and 6: Goal: Improve power, explosivity and increase endurance.

How to Register
  1. Log into the RecSports Online Store with your UT EID and password. If you need help locating your login information, use the UT EID Self-Service Tool.
  2. Select the series by clicking the "Add" button and check out. Once payment is submitted, you're officially registered for the course.
Refund/Cancellation Policy: 
  • Participants are eligible to request a full refund until the close of registration.
  • If participants miss a class, no make-up classes will be offered.
