Accounting Assistant
Now hiring for Summer 2024

The Accounting Assistant is critical to the RecSports team. In this role, you will perform skilled administrative and accounting functions in a high-volume, complex, and fast-paced setting, serving up to 42 full-time staff members.

If you are detail-oriented, organized, can track records with a high level of accuracy, will ask questions, communicate effectively with others, have natural initiative, and use problem-solving skills to think critically, we are looking for you to fill this role!

  • Pay Rate: $10.50/hour

Ambassador
Now hiring for Summer 2024

Ambassadors serve as the face and voice of the RecSports brand. As a RecSports Ambassador, you will be involved in increasing brand awareness, encouraging participation, and providing education about the various programs, facilities, and services RecSports offers to the campus community and beyond. During the summer term, Ambassadors represent RecSports at New Student and Family Orientation events. This includes tabling, presentations, facility tours, special events, and social media content creation.

To excel in this role, you will have excellent communication, networking, and customer service skills and a natural talent to motivate others. Additionally, the ideal candidate will also be a creative team player, look forward to collaboration, and bring a high level of energy and enthusiasm to each event.

Facility Assistant

If you’ve ever come to a RecSports facility, chances are you’ve interacted with a Facility Assistant - from the moment you scanned your ID at entry, to the times you checked out equipment and everything in between. Facility Assistants play an integral role in providing participants with a positive experience at all RecSports facilities providing excellent customer service. In this position, you’ll get to go behind the scenes at what it takes to run some of the largest RecSports facilities in the country. You’ll assist with setup, supervision, and teardown for a variety of special events. You’ll use your organizational and detail-oriented skills to conduct daily reports, participation counts, as well as incident or injury reports. You will also play an integral role in working alongside teammates to respond to emergencies, perform minor custodial duties, and problem-solve. Once on the job, you will be required to hold a current adult, child, and infant First Aid/CPR/AED certification from a nationally recognized agency.  

Holding a First Aid/CPR/AED or Lifeguarding certification for this position conveys a duty to act in the event of a medical emergency while on shift. In the unlikely event of an emergency, social distancing requirements may be disrupted in order to provide the proper care to participants. 

Working conditions for this role: Working conditions for this role include exposure to dust, chemical fumes, heights. Employees will be expected to work around large crowds and noise, including construction noise. Employees in this role must have the ability to work in a fast-paced environment, under stress, be able to react quickly and respond in emergency situations. Employees must also be able to re-rack weights (up to 115lbs), help move/push heavy bleachers, and conduct other activities that could require heavy lifting (with assistance). Lifeguard
Now hiring for Summer 2024

As a lifeguard, you’ll oversee the six pools that make up the Gregory Gym Aquatic Complex and our swimmers, helping enforce all policies and procedures to create a safe and enjoyable environment for all participants. Lifeguards play a critical role in guiding participants to safe behavior, intervene when necessary to maintain safety and perform any required rescues. In addition, lifeguards conduct routine inspections of equipment and programmatic needs to continue to improve the participant experience. In this role, you will develop lifeguarding technical skills, and you will use your problem-solving, flexibility, and adaptability skills to resolve issues and challenges.

Holding a First Aid/CPR/AED or Lifeguarding certification for this position conveys a duty to act during a medical emergency while on shift.

Prerequisite: Current American Red Cross™ certification or other qualifying certification from a nationally recognized certifying agency, including Lifeguarding/CPR/AED/First Aid.

Office Assistant, Programs & Memberships

As an Office Assistant for Programs and Memberships, you will serve as the first touch-point for RecSports members, prospective members, students, and guests who visit the office and the Membership and Guest Services desk. You will provide exceptional customer service to patrons both in person and over the phone, responding to inquiries regarding programs and memberships. You will use problem-solving skills and critical thinking to assist customers with issues and questions and direct them to the appropriate channels as needed. Additionally, this position will collaborate with other members of the team to relay critical information.   

This role is ideal for you if you have outstanding communication skills, work well with others, have great time management, and retain information about frequently changing policies and procedures.

Personal Trainer
Now hiring on a rolling basis

Personal Trainers provide safe, positive, and effective workouts through their work with RecSports personal training clients. As a personal trainer, you will teach clients effective workouts, deliver excellent customer service, educate on exercise performance, and regularly prepare personalized exercise programs for each client. This role requires consistent and strong verbal and non-verbal communication with clients regarding scheduling appointments and their progress and demonstrating safe and effective fitness techniques. As a Personal Trainer, you will also be expected to participate in staff training sessions, fitness workshops, meetings, and peer-to-peer evaluations. The program will also rely on you to thoroughly inspect equipment and programmatic needs. Candidates who are hired for the position are required to carry a training load minimum of two regularly scheduled clients per semester. 

  • Prerequisites: 
    • Must be currently certified in CPR and AED. Acceptable certifications include American Heart Association and American Red Cross (any other certification must be approved by the hiring manager).
    • Must be currently certified through a nationally accredited (NCCA) body. Acceptable organizations include:
      • American Council on Exercise (ACE): Certified Personal Trainer or higher
      • National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA): Certified Personal Trainer (CPT) or Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS)
      • American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM): Certified Personal Trainer or higher
      • National Academy of Sports Medicine (NASM): Certified Personal Trainer
  • Pay Rate: $16.75-$25.75/hour, dependent on certification(s) and years of training experience.

Swim Instructor

Join our team as a Swim Instructor and teach participants how to swim and how to swim better through group and private non-credit instructional swim lessons.
