The Power to Impact a Generation
Making recurring gifts to a RecSports Excellence Fund is just one of the ways that alumni and friends can ensure that RecSports continues to fulfill its mission of providing programs, services, and facilities that are comprehensive, inclusive, and unsurpassed in quality.

Those who look only to the past or the present are certain to miss the future.
- John F. Kennedy

Why donate to an Excellence Fund?
Divisional excellence funds raise critical, unrestricted resources for the organization. Because these gifts are not earmarked for a specific purpose, they allow the Division to place resources where they are most immediately needed or where opportunities are greatest. Due to the Fund being unrestricted in its use, many donors find it important to allow the Division to make the determination of where their gift will be most effective in keeping UT at the forefront of national recreational sports programs. Some examples of how Excellence Fund gifts may be used:
- Enhance programming within individual programs, such as Intramural Sports.
- Maintain the highest quality of facilities, programs and services by supplementing student fees and keeping the cost of participation affordable.
- Increase opportunities for student leadership development
- Help a sport club offset their legitimate expenses for competition. Money raised for sport clubs will go towards purchasing uniforms and equipment, travel and transportation, lodging and food, as well as tournament registration fees
- Expand training and professional development opportunities for students (i.e. conferences and workshops) interested in pursuing a career in recreational sports
- Provide seed money for new Recreational Sports initiatives.
We also encourage you to to consider endowing a new fund, which bears your name or the name of someone who impacted in your life, in support of intramurals, club sports, or where ever your RecSports passion lies. Please contact us for more information.

Betty Thompson Endowment
Former Director of Recreational Sports, Betty Thompson, found these resources to be invaluable to the continuous building of a cutting-edge RecSports program. Click here to learn more about how a gift from her estate is helping RecSports maintain that edge.
