Get a membership and locker

Currently enrolled students don't need a membership to access RecSports. Just scan your ID and go! Student locker information can be found in the student lockers page.

RecSports offers memberships to UT faculty and staff, retired faculty and staff, Texas Exes, community members (limited quantities), and students not currently enrolled. You can even sponsor a friend, or your spouse and children! We also offer short-term guest and visitor passes. Check out the memberships and lockers page for more information.

Work out

There are a variety of ways to work out at RecSports. You can build your muscles using free weights, exercise in the cardio lounge, jog at the indoor track, or get a personal trainer to help you get started.

Not familiar with the weight room? No problem! Just sign up for a weight room orientation and we will get you started.

Drop in and play

Drop in play is called Informal Recreation at RecSports. Schedules are listed by activities. Want to play Basketball? First find out when and where it is played by looking at the Informal Rec schedule. Also, be sure to check the Exceptions Schedule to make sure the space is not currently reserved for another function. If it's not, show up and get your game on.

Intramural Sports

Pick up games are great, but organized competition gives you and your friends a common goal with formidable opponents. Intramural sports is arguably the most popular program at RecSports. Get in the game! Don't have a team? No worries. You can play as a free agent and be teamed up with others. It's a great way to meet new friends. *

Group exercise and classes

Sometimes getting healthy means working out on a regular schedule. Meet your exercise needs by enrolling in group exercise. Our TeXercise pass is your key to a variety of group exercise and classes. *

Take an Instructional Class

Instructional classes are about learning and fun.

Join a sport club

Sport clubs promote leadership, personal development and involvement. This fall, check out the over 40 clubs that will be active on campus. There's one just right for you.

Take a trip

Nothing gives you perspective like taking a trip. RecSports offers a variety of outdoor adventure trips to let you connect with nature. *

Climb the wall

Develop muscles you never knew you had at the RecSports Climbing Wall. It's an addictive exercise and a great way to help you focus your mind.

Rent equipment

The Outdoor Center offers rentals on a variety of items such as tents, lanterns, jerseys, balls and more! Many items are free to rent! The center also offers equipment repair services. *
